Renata De Bonis is an artist and researcher born in São Paulo, Brazil.
Her work articulates artistic practice and critical investigation around landscape, displacement, and the poetics of space. De Bonis' holds a PhD in Arts from São Paulo State University (UNESP), where her thesis developed a hybrid methodology combining travel writing, photography, site-specific observation, and theoretical reflection. Her research situates contemporary artistic practice in dialogue with Land Art, phenomenology, and the historical construction of landscape, examining how movement, monumentality, and territory operate as both aesthetic and epistemological structures.
Professionally active as a visual artist, her production unfolds through notebooks, drawings, sound recordings, photographs and paintings, that emerge from processes of walking and geographic displacement. She explores transformation, absence, and the passage of time, often focusing on fragile and transitional states (such as the decay of flowers) as a way to reflect on human perception, memory, and ecological awareness. She investigates how art can mirror the cycles of growth and loss present in nature.
Bridging academic rigor and artistic experimentation, her trajectory is marked by the integration of theory and practice, positioning travel and attentive observation as critical tools for rethinking landscape as lived experience, symbolic construction, and artistic field.
